  107. Echoes in FIDOSTAT.NO will be returned to the FIDONET.NA list upon their
  108. ELISTing by the moderator.  We observe the echoes in which moderator
  109. updates are listed and will restore FIDONET.NO listed echoes when the
  110. update message appears.  No other action is required.
  111.  
  112. FIDOSTAT.NA is a weekly information file accumulating these requests.
  113. Requirements for listing were posted in ZEC, other echoes and in
  114. FidoNews 911 (FNEWS911.LZH), March 16, 1992.  Instructions for ELISTing
  115. an echo are given in ELMOD0993.ZIP available from Mike Fuchs at 1:1/201
  116. and many SDS sites.

  118. Moderators requesting addition of their echo to the North American
  119. Fidonet Echo Backbone should send message of application to "BACKBONE"
  120. in the ZEC echo.  (**Note that ELIST information (minus the password)
  121. must be posted as part of this message.  It is not satisfactory to
  122. state that echo is ELISTed.)  If you do not have access to the ZEC
  123. echo ask your NEC or REC to post a copy of your message in the ZEC
  124. echo, or send netmail to 1:290/627. ** Your reply will be the listing
  125. in FIDOSTAT.NA. **
  126.  
  127. Echoes not attaining backbone status within one month of their listing
  128. will be dropped.  Moderators may request an extension of 4 weeks.
  129.  
  130. Applications to the backbone must include and demonstrate that
  131.         A.)  There is sufficient traffic for inclusion (in general
  132.              25 or more messages per week),
  133.         B.)  Number of nodes warrants backbone distribution (in
  134.              general 25 or more nodes)
  135.         C.)  Seen-by's for purpose of demonstrating point B. and
  136.              showing cross regional distribution.

  138. Applications not showing A, B and C will be considered incomplete
  139. until the complete application includes that information.

  141. Once an echo attains backbone status it becomes the responsibility of
  142. the moderator to establish uplinks to the backbone via their NEC/REC/
  143. HUB.  Reasonable precautions should exercised to minimize dupe loops
  144. while switching feeds to backbone distribution.

  185. Each region is "normally" allowed 1 link to each star.  Exceptions are
  186. made with consent of the regions REC, ZEC, and the Star's stated ability
  187. to handle additional load.  Those connecting to the Stars are expected to
  188. serve as Region level backbone hubs.  No nets/nodes are serviced separate
  189. from their ability and willingness to serve as a regional hub except on
  190. a local basis.  One last reminder, just because you see this list here,
  191. does not mean that you should abrogate the responsibility to clear your
  192. links via your respective REC.
